PPA – Canoeing
The Personal Performance Awards are discipline specific, it’s at this stage that you can specialise into the bit of the sport you enjoy the most. Training courses take place in a moderate water environment, you’ll be paddling in the wind (if conditions allow) and moving water to develop your boat handling and rescue skills. The new Personal Performance Awards are now broken down into 3 stages, for the sea kayak award you have the ‘Canoeing Award’, the ‘Progressive Canoeing Award’ and the ‘Advanced Canoeing Award’. For more information on these awards click the awards below. We highly recommend you view the course outlines and come with an idea of which award to go for.
We will meet in Beauileu, Hampshire, on the first day where we will go through planning and navigation work and personal skills on the Beaulieu River. The second day will be spent either in Dorset or Hampshire and you’ll be involved in planning and completing a journey in your canoes for the second day.
Experience of being in a Canoe is essential, we advise that you’ve been canoeing a few times at the least. This experience can be gained on any of our canoeing courses or our membership programme.
