Canoeing in Dorset – Explorer Day

Open Canoeing in Dorset offers us the opportunity to paddle around beautiful harbours and explore the picturesque River Stour or Frome. On this trip you’ll undertake a journey where there will be many opportunities for testing your open canoeing skills and receiving some coaching to improve your paddling. Most days are based around the South West Dorset area (Poole/Christchurch area), your coach will be in touch the week beforehand with a more accurate starting location when they have a better idea on the weather for the day.

We do recommend that you have some experience (2.5 hour canoeing trip or a discover canoeing day) as a full day can be a lot of activity for the complete beginner. If you are very confident and comfortable in canoes but with to discuss the suitability of these days, please get in touch to discuss the suitability of these days for you.

More Information

You’ll receive a day of expert coaching and guidance. We supply all paddling equipment you’ll need for a great Open Canoeing day in Dorset.

On the canoeing day there will be chances for; Open Canoe technique practice, testing skills in moderate waters including tidal/white water flows or wind, exploring remote areas and plenty more!

Participants must be 16 years or over. Experience is essential.

Went on an intro to sea kayaking. Our instructor Leander gave clear and concise instructions when we took to the water we had a fantastic time. We paused occasionally to take in new skills and tips. By the end, we were truly comfortable in our kayaks. I had never been in a kayak before but now can’t wait to do it again.

I attended a sea day and a kayak rolling course. Both days were very well planned, good equipment supplied with excellent coaching and guiding and tailored to the group’s skill and experience level. Very happy, and I have already rebooked for further training courses.

Our instructor Steve took us on an enjoyable trip past Old Harry Rocks which gave us the opportunity to try out some more challenging conditions and exercises. We felt that Steve’s affable and engaging character enabled the group to relax and enjoy themselves whilst benefitting from his experience and guidance. We would certainly recommend this trip to anyone looking to improve their kayaking and enjoy a great day out.
