PPA – Touring
The Personal Performance Awards are discipline specific, it’s at this stage that you can specialise into the bit of the sport you enjoy the most. Training courses take place in a variety of sheltered and moderate water environments, you’ll be paddling in winds (if conditions allow) and tidal flows to develop your boat handling and rescue skills. The new Personal Performance Awards are now broken down into 3 stages, for the touring award you have the ‘Touring Award’, the ‘Open Water Touring Award’ and the ‘Multi Day Touring Award’ and in each award you can choose the craft you wish to do it in (Canoe or Kayak). For more information on these awards click the awards below. We highly recommend you view the course outlines and come with an idea of which award to go for. On one of our 2 day courses it is highly unlikely we will offer the Multi Day Touring Award, if this is something you were after please contact us to discuss availability.
We will meet in Beauileu, Hampshire, on the first day where we will go through planning and navigation work and personal skills on the Beaulieu River. The second day will be spent either in Dorset or Hampshire and you’ll be involved in planning and completing a journey in the craft or your choice for the second day.
Experience of being in a Canoe or Kayak is essential, we advise that you’ve been canoeing a few times at the least. This experience can be gained on any of our courses or our membership programme.
